Modern electronic equipment seems to run better than let’s say, 20 years ago. This is largely due to computer technology becoming an integral part of most designs. Although higher uptime may be good for the manufacturing process, it can add complication to the job of the Maintenance Department.
In many cases, factory maintenance electricians are expected to keep a wide range of gear in top running order. This can be quite difficult if the maintenance crew have little experience working with such equipment. It often seems that each piece of equipment has greatly different hardware, software, and adjustments, as compared to others within their areas.
